When Cadette Troop 507 was approached by Oak Hill Middle School with a project in need of willing problem solvers—the girls didn’t think twice. Four Girl Scouts, Brenna, Maddie, Kelsey, and Cheyenne all came together to help Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Field, tidy up around the office.
“Mrs. Field wanted to give the office a neater look by covering up the shelves with cloth panels,” said Troop Leader Terri Ashton.
Over a period of around four hours, the girls chose out fabric, bought supplies, and got to cutting, ironing, and sewing. Once they finished up, the office looked cleaner, neater, and brighter than ever before!
“While most of the girls had never sewed before, they got past their nervousness about using the machines and had fun. I think they wished we had more panels to do, they wanted to keep on sewing things once they were done!” Said Terri.
As an even sweeter incentive to helping their community, all four girls attend the school and will get to see the fruits of their labor each school morning!
“Mrs. Field was so pleased with the outcome and so proud of the girls for tackling the project,” said Terri.
