That's what our camp staff and counselors experience when they join our Girl Scout summer camp team.
Our summer staff are recruited from around the world. They are college students, mothers, teachers, and others who enjoy working with children. They all complete an application and interview, provide references, and undergo a formal background check. All staff complete an intensive pre-camp training orientation before campers arrive. We host two overnight camps with 30-40 staff and up to 70-120 girls who attend one week to four-week sessions during our 6 week season.

I am Tonia Stewart, the Director for Camp Pondicherry. I am so excited to return to Camp Pondicherry for a second summer.
As an Appalachian Trail thru hiker and avid outdoorswoman, I enjoy passing on my knowledge and love for the great outdoors. One of the things I look forward to most this year at camp is watching campers grow independence and develop new skills.
I am very excited for the upcoming camp season and look forward to seeing all of you at Pondi in 2024!
Camp Pondicherry is a spectacular outdoor setting, nestled on over 600 acres in the foothills of the White Mountains. Pondi has a private waterfront on Adams Pond and miles of unspoiled woodlands, fields, hills, and trails. There are wonderful vistas of lakes and mountains from our Chalet and from Blueberry Hill.

Guiding adventures, shaping futures—join us as an assistant camp director!
The Assistant Camp Director collaborates with the Camp Director to plan and deliver staff training. This role involves assuming administrative duties delegated by the Camp Director including overseeing staff meetings and leading large group activities. When the Camp Director is absent, the Assistant Camp Director assumes responsibility for managing camp operations effectively.
Working closely with the Camp Director, Waterfront Director, and Program Director, this position actively contributes to designing and implementing a camp experience aligned with the Girl Scout program, camping objectives, and the specific interests and needs of the campers. Managing camper and staff schedules and supporting general camp functions are integral responsibilities.
Behavior management for both campers and staff, frequent visits to program areas for supervision and support, and contribution to the development and delivery of evening activities, special events, and daily programs are key components of this role. Additionally, maintaining meticulous camper records in CampMinder, handling camper awards and facilitating the transportation of campers and staff throughout the camp season are essential tasks.

The Camp Nurse role involves reviewing camper medical histories/forms prior to their arrival, communicating with parents regarding any questions, assisting with camper check-in on opening day, and maintaining a continuous presence near the health center, offering round-the-clock availability to respond to emergencies. This position entails upholding the general health and safety standards for all campers and personnel, as well as overseeing the daily administration of medications.

Navigating adventures and safeguarding smiles—dive into fun as a waterfront assistant!
The Waterfront Assistant supports both waterfront and overall camp operations. This position involves aiding in the supervision and management of the camp's swimming and boating programs as well as overseeing the waterfront and boating areas. During off-waterfront hours, responsibilities include managing camper check-in and out processes, maintaining camper information, coordinating daily camp schedules, attending to duties in the dining hall, operating a camp van, and ensuring safety and sanitation across camp facilities.

Camp Natarswi is a true wilderness paradise, providing a one-of-a-kind, rustic, Maine outdoor experience, all in the shadow of majestic Mt. Katahdin, Maine’s highest peak. Natarswi hugs the shoreline of Lower Togue Pond.

The Camp Program Director actively contributes to the development and implementation of a camp program that aligns with the Girl Scout ethos, camping objectives, and the unique needs and interests of the campers. Working in tandem with the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director, this position establishes essential routines, schedules, procedures for camp operations, and ensures the proper maintenance of camp property. Additionally, they play a pivotal role in planning and executing staff training and in-service training in coordination with the Camp Director. Make a Splash and Impact Lives: Lead Waterfront Adventures at Girl Scout Camp
The Waterfront Director oversees and supervises all activities conducted in waterfront areas. This role ensures strict adherence to safety protocols among campers and staff engaged in waterfront activities. The Waterfront Supervisor plays a vital role in training and supporting waterfront staff, providing guidance in program areas like canoeing, kayaking, sailing, paddleboarding, and swimming. This includes imparting knowledge about appropriate responses to changing water or weather conditions and ensuring the safety of all participants.
Maintaining the facilities and equipment within the waterfront area is crucial to this role, ensuring they remain in optimal condition for safe use. Additionally, the Waterfront Director assists waterfront staff in developing and executing lesson plans, fostering an engaging and educational experience for campers.
Supervision of lifeguards, offering constructive feedback, conducting performance reviews, and contributing to the overall safety and quality of waterfront activities. are also integral parts of this position.
