Troop 5036 Navigating the Big Apple
Troop 5036 had an awesome time exploring New York City! The Cadette Girl Scouts held multiple cookie booths to help fund their trip. The 4 Girl Scouts decided a year ago that they wanted to go on the trip, and once they heard about all they could see, do, and experience in NYC, they were sold! Some of their favorite memories were visiting FAO Schwarz, going on the ferry to the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty, and seeing their relatives in the records at Ellis Island. One of the biggest takeaways from the trip was that Girl Scouts can do so much themselves. By the end of the trip, the girls knew their way around the city and were completely comfortable navigating the different subway lines.
“It was so rewarding to see the growth of the Girl Scouts over one trip,” said Troop 5036’s Leader, Nanette Ardy. “They did many things for the first time: going on the ferry, riding the subway, eating new foods, and staying in a hostel.” The Girl Scouts are already looking forward to planning their next adventure!
