Mentoring younger troops is a massive part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, particularly for older members when it comes to traditional programs and awards ceremonies.
Girl Scout Ambassadors from Troop 2300 assisted Troop 1408 as they bridged from Daisies to Brownies this September. Practicing the Girl Scout Promise by “being a sister to every Girl Scout,” the Ambassadors showed that staying involved with younger Girl Scouts can make a huge impression.
Bridging is an integral piece of Girl Scouting and a time stamp that marks the growth each member has made as they progress through life and experience. Ceremonies are held to honor these transitions with certificates, patches, songs, recitations of the Girl Scout Promise and Law, crossing the bridge, and so many more meaningful activities.
Troop 1408’s ceremony, which took place at the gazebo outside of Baxter Memorial Library in Gorham, was filled with joy and happiness as the new Brownies celebrated their transition from being Daisies alongside their older role models.
