With temps heating up and summer well underway, troops are finding new and unique ways to cool off—and what goes better with a warm day than frozen dessert?!
Eight Daisies and Brownies from Troop 1487 spent a Tuesday afternoon in June touring the Sweet Frog facilities in Bangor. Sweet Frog makes premiere homemade frozen yogurt in dozens of delicious flavors with over 60 different toppings to choose from.
Upon arrival, the girls got a tour of the store and production areas, including the walk-in freezer where all the yogurt that goes into the machines is kept.
“Doug, the owner of Sweet Frog, was so great with the girls. They were able to learn about how frozen yogurt is made, food safety, and the importance of wearing gloves,” says Troop 1487 Leader Lauren Dicker.
After the tour, the girls even got to try gloves on and dip cherries into melted chocolate for a new yogurt flavor.
“Their favorite part was probably trying the frozen yogurt and dipping the cherries, but they also really enjoyed walking behind the counter and exploring the store,” says Lauren.
Lauren highly recommends this activity to any troops wishing to learn more about food safety, money handling, small businesses, or simply a delicious summer treat!
“I loved bringing the girls and giving them an opportunity to see that their hard work can accomplish big things and give them an experience they have not had before,” says Lauren.
