Build-A-Bear, pizza, pajamas, and a movie—what more could you ask for? Troop 1354 chose to set their cookie sales funds aside for a very special day this July, jam-packed with all of their favorite activities.
“When we had our cookie sale launch meeting, we talked about setting goals with the girls […] we asked the girls to brainstorm how to spend the money by giving them three categories: something fun, something to save for, and something to donate to,” says Troop 1354 Leader Carrie Jensen.
After tripling their cookie sales goal, the girls decided on three separate activities for the fun category: a visit to Build-A-Bear, the movie theater, and a pool party for another day.
“We went to Build-A-Bear in the Maine Mall and booked a party with them, so every girl got to pick their favorite bear, an outfit, shoes, a sound, and a backpack carrier,” says Carrie.
After picking out their new stuffed friends, the fourteen Daisies in attendance headed to a nearby movie theater to grab a slice of pizza and watch Elemental, a Disney animation about the planet’s four elements. Naturally, the girls went all out for their hard-earned day of fun—they even wore their PJs to the theater for ultimate relaxation.
Carrie says this was the perfect opportunity to teach the girls about financial goal-setting from start to finish, and most importantly reaping the benefits of their hard work selling cookies and organizing a plan.
“Watching them plan the process from start to finish and enjoy the fruits of their labor together was such a wonderful bonding experience,” says Carrie.
