The inaugural Cookies and Cocktails event organized by Girl Scouts of Maine (GSME) engaged the community on Thursday, June 5th at Aura in Portland, raising nearly $65,000 to support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. With over 100 guests including community leaders and supporters, the evening was both a celebration and a pledge to invest in Maine's future through the transformative programs GSME offers.
The proceeds from the event will directly enhance GSME's programs, enriching the lives of Girl Scouts across the state. These programs offer girls opportunities for adventure, leadership, and personal growth—whether exploring new places through travel, connecting with nature at summer camps, or spearheading service projects that benefit local communities.
GSME shared the success of collaborating with community partners such as Avesta Housing, the Boys & Girls Club, and schools across Maine to eliminate barriers and extend the reach of the Girl Scout experience to a broader audience.
“At Girl Scouts of Maine, we are working harder than ever to bring the Girl Scout experience to every girl in Maine and offer innovative and relevant programs statewide,” said Girl Scouts of Maine CEO Mara Moorhead. “We thank everyone whose participation in this event reaffirmed their commitment to the girls of Maine.”
The event was made possible by the generous support of sponsors including The Blossom Fund, MEMIC, Maine Community Bank, and Sappi. Their contributions underscore a community-wide support network intent on nurturing the next generation of female leaders.

We Are Girl Scouts of Maine
Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to
build a better world. Through programs across the state of Maine and
beyond, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be
unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise
to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree
or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate
for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by
trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts
lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect
the issues most important to them. To join us, volunteer, reconnect,
or donate, visit girlscoutsofmaine.org.
