Twelve Girl Scouts from Troop 823 spent one of the final warm days of summer on an overnight camping adventure at Timberland Acres RV Park in Trenton! The multi-level troop from Surry chose the camping ground as it offered the best of both worlds: traditional camping and all the fun amenities one typically can’t find in the woods.
“We wanted a place to experience sleeping in a tent while still having the option to go swimming and play at a playground,” says Troop Leader Michelle Perry.
During their campout, the Girl Scouts who attended focused on fire safety, learning how to start their own mini fires properly and cautiously. Although they had a blast playing together on the playground and roasting s’mores, Troop 823 also learned some crucial camping skills that will stick with them long term.
“My biggest takeaway was that everyone can chip in when it comes to setting up camp and making the camping experience fun for all while learning new skills,” says Michelle.
This camping trip was a chance for the troop to participate in one last group outing together before welcoming in new members for the coming year!
