Troop 1049 took on a different kind of patch this fall…a pumpkin one!
The group of Cadettes decided to get into the autumn spirit with a visit to Pumpkin Valley Farm in Dayton. The fun-filled farm features adorable animals, hayrides, a lush pumpkin patch, and a vast 5-acre corn maze sure to stump anyone!
Since the corn maze had a “Bee Kind” theme this year, the Girl Scouts wore matching yellow T-shirts to spread the message.
“The girls loved working together to maneuver their way through the maze, going on a hayride, and bouncing on the jumping pillow together,” says Troop 1049 Leader Coleen Whitehurst-Hatt.
What seemed like a silly day of mindless fun turned out to be a great opportunity for the Cadettes to practice many life skills echoed by the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).
“They had to problem solve and make decisions together to get out of the corn maze, and we thought that fit perfectly with the Amaze journey they are working on,” says Coleen.
