Spring 2024
Gundalow Service Unit held a galactic adventure earlier this spring with an exciting day-long STEAM event themed around space science!
The activity took place at Central Elementary School in South Berwick but with exercises and activities modeled after a true space mission. The school gymnasium could’ve easily been mistaken for a whole new planet.
“The girls got to explore outer space, try coding, prepare an ‘Eggstranaut’ for safe landing, race rockets, create galaxy jars, and more,” says Troop 1411 Leader Christina Towers.
Word about the STEAM event made its way to News Center Maine Meteorologist and former Girl Scout, Dana Osgood, who visited the occasion to speak to Gundalow attendees about the upcoming solar eclipse. In true Girl Scout fashion, she also helped them make eclipse viewers from recycled cookie boxes!
“The girls all had so much fun, and so did the adults. This was one of our most highly rated events for the year,” says Christina.
