In Girl Scouts, we refer to one another as our "Girl Scout Sisters," but for some, this bond is quite literal. This rings true for Hannah and Melody of Troop 551, who are sisters navigating their Girl Scout journey side by side. Hannah, a second-year Junior, and Melody, a first-year Brownie, enjoy the unique experience of being in the same troop, fostering their Girl Scout adventures together, and selling Girl Scout Cookies!
Their mom, Kait, who is a passionate Girl Scout volunteer, said that “both of the girls’ self-confidence grows with every meeting as their troop offers encouragement to try new things or to keep trying. Melody will camp at any opportunity, and Hannah has made some lasting friendships with girls around Maine.”
This year, the sisters teamed up for the cookie program, selling cookies together. "It's great because we can walk around selling to neighbors together instead of alone like I did before Melody was a Brownie," says Hannah. Melody adds, “We have twice the cookies in the house!"
Hannah finds joy in mentoring Melody, reliving her own Brownie experiences, while Melody looks forward to all she'll do as a Junior. She also loves inheriting Hannah's Girl Scout gear.
Above all, both girls adore making new friends and spending time with them, embodying the vibrant spirit of Girl Scouts.
