Celebrating Earth Day with Troop 1862
Troop 1862 Girl Scouts celebrated Earth Day with an engaging and hands-on outdoor adventure focused on exploring and understanding our planet. The day began with a guided hike through the Boreal Forest ecosystem, where the girls observed their surroundings and discussed how plants and animals survive through both the harsh winters and warmer summer months. Along the trail, they asked thoughtful questions, shared ideas, and made connections about habitats, food sources, and environmental changes.
After the hike, the group returned to the education center for a creative activity that brought their learning to life. Using recycled materials, each Girl Scout designed and built her own insect and its ecosystem. The room buzzed with creativity, teamwork, and excitement as they shared their creations and explained how their insect would thrive in its environment.
Throughout the experience, the girls were actively engaged, learning by doing, working together, and having fun along the way. It was a meaningful and memorable way to celebrate Earth Day while building confidence, knowledge, and friendships.
