Eleven fearless Brownie Girl Scouts from Portland Troop 1423 quite literally reached for their goal when it came to completing their Climbing Adventure badge in November!
According to Troop 1423 Leader Monique Prevost, the group decided to go to EVO Rock + Fitness in Portland since one of the Girl Scouts in the troop climbs there regularly.
“One of our Girl Scouts who climbs there on a weekly basis brought in her gear from home and did a little presentation for her troop on what the different items were called and how they are used,” says Monique.
When they finally got to put their skills to test at EVO, the troop couldn’t have been more prepared, excited, or polite.
“I continue to be impressed by these girls; they live by the Girl Scout Promise. They were polite and friendly, and the staff was so impressed. If they were waiting at the bottom for someone else to finish climbing, they cheered her on,” says Monique.
As the perfect end to a perfect adventure, each of the Girl Scouts completed their Climbing Adventure badge, and the activity has certainly inspired a new favorite hobby for a few troop members!
“The most memorable part was when I was scared and I didn’t want to get down, but I did it anyways. After I did it, I wanted to go again and again,” says Ellerie, a Brownie from Troop 1423.
