Spirit of Youth Leaders

Local Maine American Veterans (AMVETS) from the Gorham area sponsored graduating Ambassador Girl Scout from Troop 2300, Meghan, to attend the Spirit of America Youth Leadership conference in November.
During the four-day conference held from November 2-5 at the Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge, PA, Meghan participated in a variety of programs covering topics like American history, responsible citizenship, leadership development, freedoms granted by the U.S. Constitution.
Aside from the scheduled workshops, Meghan also got to participate in a formal flag ceremony, a mock congressional debate, received a tour of historic Philadelphia with special visits to Valley Forge and the Medal of Honor Grave.
Not only did Meghan end her four-day adventure with a newfound appreciation for history, leadership, and freedom—she also left with some new familiar faces in mind! Since the Spirit of America Youth Leadership is open to high school students in grades 10-12 from all across the country, Meghan got the chance to make lasting connections with peers from far and wide.
