STATEWIDE — February 2025 ushers in an exhilarating new Girl Scout Cookie season in Maine, combining two impactful initiatives that embrace community, creativity, and leadership—Girl Scout Cookie Palooza and the Cookie Entrepreneur Family Pin program. These initiatives aim to draw in local businesses and supporters, creating new avenues for partnership and empowerment.
Debuting Cookie Palooza
The first-ever Cookie Palooza invites local businesses to craft creations or pairings featuring their favorite Girl Scout Cookies, drawing in food lovers and culinary adventurers across Maine. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is not only a celebrated tradition but the world’s largest girl-led entrepreneurial initiative. Through Cookie Palooza, Maine’s local businesses are provided with a unique opportunity to contribute to this tradition while supporting Girl Scouts in their community.
Laura Genese, spokesperson for Girl Scouts of Maine, shares, “This initiative not only highlights the Girl Scout Cookie Program and the flavors of our iconic cookies but also fortifies our connections with the business community. It is an opportunity for the public to invest directly in our girls’ entrepreneurial journey in a fun and creative way that helps boost local businesses as well.”
By showcasing their unique culinary creations across various platforms, participating businesses will reach new audiences. Simultaneously, Girl Scouts of Maine will boost their visibility through extensive media outreach and creative social campaigns. Cookie Palooza is a celebration of community where establishments compete for the title of “Fan Favorite” through public voting. For those eager to join the journey and businesses interested in participating, more information is available at www.girlscoutsofmaine.org/cookiepalooza.
Empowering Young Entrepreneurs
In tandem, the Cookie Entrepreneur Family Pin program, supported by First National Bank and Martin’s Point Health Care, enhances the entrepreneurial skills of Girl Scouts ages 6-18. This program, cost-free to members, encompasses activities designed to instill key business skills, such as goal setting, money management, and ethical business practices. Since its inception, the program has surged in popularity, with hundreds of pins earned each year.
Tony McKim, President and CEO of First National Bank, emphasizes its long-lasting benefits. “We’re proud to support a program that fosters future entrepreneurs in Maine, and we’re eager to watch these young leaders grow into influential figures in our communities.”
The Girl Scout Cookie Program provides multiple opportunities for Girl Scouts to put their business acumen into action. Through their generous contributions, sponsors like First National Bank and Martin’s Point Health Care are instrumental in empowering young leaders across Maine to make a lasting impact in their communities. The Cookie Entrepreneur Family Pin is available to Girl Scouts of every level. Together, these initiatives underscore the far-reaching impact of the Girl Scout Cookie Program. They are an invitation for local businesses and the community to partake in the growth, learning, and empowerment of Maine’s Girl Scouts, paving the way for a future workforce characterized by innovation and leadership.
To get your cookies, order directly from a local Girl Scout in your community. Ask your friends, neighbors, and coworkers if they know a Girl Scout you can support. The public can also use the Cookie Finder to locate a troop near them to order from and starting in April locate cookie booths to buy cookies on the spot!
