Nine Girl Scouts in Troop 521 traveled to NYC for GSME Goes to NYC for four days. The troop had been planning the trip since 2024, building on past overnight adventures to make this one truly special. Some of their favorite highlights included seeing Six on Broadway, making a candy salad in the hostel, taking the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, singing with the waitstaff at Gayle’s Broadway Rose and touring historical sites they’ve studied in school this year.
Working together as a troop with the goal of making it to Broadway taught the Girl Scouts a lot about budgeting, scheduling, and meeting goals. They also learned how to navigate the subway, bus, and city. Their whole trip was funded from money they used from selling cookies, cookie booths, fall product, yard sales, hosting a trivia night, and more.
