Preparing for Summer Fun
As summer begins Troop 1545 took the opportunity to learn about tick safety. Alisha from the University of Maine joined us for an educational meeting, where we discovered the various types of ticks, their common habitats, and how to identify them.
The Girl Scouts also learned about the risks associated with each species and how to properly remove and dispose of them. The Girl Scouts were fully engaged, participating in activities such as matching games, magnified observations, and a tick drag. The collected specimens will be sent to a lab for analysis, and the troop is eager to receive the results. Thanks to this program, Troop 1545 is now fully prepared to stay safe this summer and enjoy the outdoors.
