There’s a new troop on the block! Recently formed Troop 1545, took to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens this month for their very first group outing! Leaders of the Daisy and Brownie group discovered the adventurous opportunity after skimming through Compass and noting an age-appropriate activity that looked like some fun!
“The girls were very excited to attend ‘Flowers and Pollinators’ at the Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, hosted by GSME,” says Troop 1545 Leader Marie Nault.
Two other GSME troops joined in the fun, making the day one to not only explore and learn about Maine’s plant life, but get a chance to see other Girl Scouts from around the state getting involved too.
“We enjoyed learning about which pollinators were interested in which plants and the girls were all engaged when it came to dissecting a daffodil and exploring the various centers with magnifying glasses,” says Marie.
After examining tons of flowers, insects, and salamanders, the girls got to play in the children’s area and check out the notorious wooden trolls displayed all throughout the gardens.
“The girls had a great day, left with happy memories, and are excited to see where their next adventure will take them,” says Marie.
