Seven Juniors from Troop 1249, two troop leaders, and one volunteer spent a night camping in Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal.
“Bradbury Mountain has two group campsites set apart from the rest of the campground,” says Troop 1249 Leader Tina Keene.
With the campsite’s location a bit separated from the rest, Tina says it was perfect for the new campers to be able to make noise and sing songs without disturbing others.
The outing was a perfect opportunity for the troop to put the camping skills they learned in the spring to the test. After setting up their two tents, the group participated in a treasure hunt, went on a hike, prepared dinner, and of course roasted marshmallows by the campfire!
“For four of the girls, it was their first time sleeping out in a tent, and they all can’t wait to do it again,” says Tina.
