Growing up in Washington County, one Girl Scout believes that passing down life lessons and instilling respect is deeply valued. Peyton, an 11-year-old from Troop 1702 in Eastport, embodies the Girl Scout promise of being "friendly and helpful" and helping "people at all times."
During an afternoon ride with her grandparents, Peyton’s curiosity led her to a remarkable discovery on a bridge: a lost wallet. Known for her inquisitive nature and love for exploring, Peyton immediately sought to return it. She took it to an adult and launched a search using social media and local police help.
Through perseverance, they identified the owner, Tyson from Oklahoma, who was visiting Downeast Maine. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Tyson was relieved to learn that the wallet, untouched, would be returned.
Peyton's actions didn’t go unnoticed. Tyson thanked her multiple times, and her story fostered conversations about kindness within her community. Her gesture underscores the power of doing the right thing and spreads positivity and good will.
Peyton reminds us that being a Good Samaritan can create ripples of good, inspiring others to speak up, be brave, and choose kindness every day.
