Girls from Troops 651, 485, 2 girls (little sisters) from 1417, 574
and 1868 baked apple, pumpkin, blueberry, and chocolate cream pies at
the Westbrook Warren Church in preparation to donate them for the
Thanksgiving holiday.
Julie Webster, troop leader of
Troop 1816 and Nonesuch Service Unit Treasurer, said, “This year we
donated the pies to The Wayside Food Program. In years past we donated
to the Westbrook Food Pantry, but they have not accepted donations
since COVID began. They get food from Wayside, so we decided to donate
to Wayside.”
This year there were troops that
participated for the first time, and for some girls, they were making
their first pies ever. 32 pies were baked in total. Way to go,
girls!
Wayside will be packing prepared Thanksgiving
meals this year in bags decorated by Girl Scouts, and each bag will
include a slice of the Nonesuch Service Unit pie!
