To celebrate International Women’s Day, Ambassadors from Troop 1885 went to The Take Apart a Toaster event.
At the event, hosted by the Society of Women Engineers, the Girl Scouts smashed and broke apart various items, including bikes, guitars, computer parts, toasters, and more.
“Anyway you can introduce STEM fields, even if it is just taking something apart, it is so important for girls to experience,” says Troop 1885 Leader Lucinda Pype.
The Girl Scouts were then able to see what the inside of electronics and various appliances look like and were also able to connect with others not from their troop.
“I loved that the girls were so excited to start tearing things apart, and I never heard a single person say they were bored because there was always something new to take apart,” says Lucinda.
