Several Girl Scout troops took to the basketball court this winter to perform a high energy halftime show at a sold-out Maine Celtics game. The performance was part of dance clinic program held at the Portland Expo where girls got the opportunity to learn some moves from real Celtics cheerleaders in the afternoon before putting on a full show during a game against the Delaware Blue Coats.
“The cheerleaders were amazing with the Girl Scouts, very patient, helpful, and encouraging. They had lots of energy that rolled down to the girls,” says Troop 500 Leader Linda Morris.
Once finished with the routine, the cheerleaders made a point to sign each girl’s Maine Celtics hat, so they had an autographed souvenir to remember the experience by.
“Our girls had a blast the entire day and look forward to attending this again in the future!” Says Morris.
The Maine Celtics dance clinic is just one of countless fun ways for Girl Scouts to work towards earning their Dancer badge. In order to complete this Life Skills badge, girls have to get moving, try a new dance, take to the floor, make up a routine, and finally… show it off!
