Girls on the Go Explored the Galapagos Islands

February 2023

Thanks to Girls on the Go, seven Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts from around the state visited Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands for a trip of a lifetime!

These intrepid Girl Scouts spent the nine-day trip immersing themselves in the unique carnival culture while learning about conservation efforts and indigenous communities within the islands. Snorkeling, hiking, swimming, and tasting all the local cuisine were just a few of many highlighted moments on the trip.

Although the girls had a blast during every excursion and activity abroad—trying fresh-made empanadas and spotting otherworldly iguanas were amongst some of their many favorite experiences.

“My favorite part of the trip was when we were in Quito and got to be part of a carnival,” says Amara, a Girl Scout who participated in the exciting trip.

Girls on the Go is GSME’s premier travel group for Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors seeking adventure outside of their geographic comfort zone. So far, the group has taken several thrilling trips to faraway places such as Italy, Costa Rica, the UK, Iceland, and more!
