Future Leaders Scholarship Recipient, Emma Longanecker
A Gold Level Scholarship is awarded to Emma Longanecker of South Portland.
One of the biggest challenges that she sees facing girls and women today is violence against women, and specifically, that animals are used as tools to keep women in abusive relationships. To help address this issue, she will become a veterinarian; she will advocate and help build a bigger community that is sensitive to the issue of women escaping abusive relationships and provide resources to keep their animals safe.
