Amy is a hardworking Apple Mountain Service Unit volunteer from Parsonsfield. Beginning her journey more than ten years ago when she stepped up to lead her eldest daughter’s troop after a sudden loss of leadership—Amy never expected her Girl Scout path to take her this far.
“Here I am over ten years later and now my oldest daughter just graduated. The next group of girls is heading into 10th grade and the Brownies will bridge to Juniors this year,” says Amy.
Amy’s current troop echoes her values that have always been reflected through her volunteered time and energy within the service unit. Amy encourages lots of community service and connecting with local businesses and residents to establish a sense of impact and purpose amongst her Girl Scouts.
“Volunteering and giving back to your community impacts both the Girls and the community in a positive way. Myself and my co leaders are here to provide guidance to these girls at a young age and teach them to be a giver and to love their community. Honestly with this group it did not take much, they are naturals. Watching these young ladies grow all these years has been worth every ounce of my time,” says Amy.
Known for her dedication and follow-through when it comes to organizing successful events, everyone always looks forward to an activity that’s been planned by Amy. From high-energy Cookie Rallies, to informative camp skills days, meaningful community service activities and so much more, Amy is always the first to step up and into event leadership positions.
This month, we thank and celebrate Amy for her countless contributions to Apple Mountain, and the organization as a whole! Her expertise, loyalty, and clear passion for building Girl Scouts of courage, confidence, and character is a true gift.
