Heidi is an exceptional volunteer and devoted troop leader within the Sapphire Service Unit. Heidi joined Girl Scouts of Maine in 2023 when she started Troop 1690 in Washburn.
The Girl Scout group is made up of Daisies and Juniors, and thanks to Heidi’s natural leadership, they have participated in countless exciting troop activities and community projects, such as purchasing town Girl Scout signs, earning First Aid badges, participating in World Thinking Day, building bird houses, riding horses, and so much more.
“Heidi continually brings leadership opportunities to the girls, and every step of the way, she encourages them to take the lead by using a girl-led approach, allowing the girls to vote on and implement their activities along with spending their profits from cookie sales,” says Sandra Hafford, Troop 1690 co-leader.
In addition to her troop efforts, Heidi has played an instrumental role in the growth of Sapphire and neighboring service units, stepping in whenever possible to plan and cover events such as multi-unit Camporees, Cookie Rallies, and plenty of meetings.
“Heidi has great ideas and really stays up to speed on GSME. She is a super communicator and awesome about discussing everything with Sandi and I,” says Nalena Kennett, Troop 1690 co-leader.
Congratulations, Heidi! The Girl Scout members of Washburn, Sapphire Service Unit, and Aroostook County are lucky to have a strong role model like you to look up to!
