LEWISTON—It isn’t always just grandma, the neighbors, or flat-out strangers who make up the average Girl Scout customer base—sometimes even the mayor of your town needs a little Girl Scout Cookie pick me up! Troop 471 got a visit from hometown celebrity and Mayor of Lewiston, Carl L. Sheline while selling cookies at the EllieAnna Gift Shop in Lewiston!
“Mayor Sheline saw us advertising on Facebook with the gift shop and came in to see us, take some pictures, and buy cookies. He introduced himself, asked us about our troop, where we were from, and how our booth was going,” said Troop Leader Farrah Poirier.
Three girls, including two Brownies and a Daisy, were manning the booth when the mayor stopped by, and even managed to sell 70 boxes of cookies within their first hour of setting up shop.
“The mayor was very impressed with the girls after seeing how politely they were approaching customers and asking them if they were interested in buying Girl Scout Cookies,” said Farrah.
The girls sold Mayor Sheline six boxes of cookies, taking extra care to ensure they gave him the proper change before bidding their famed customer farewell.
“The girls were very excited about the mayor coming in and had lots of fun posing for pictures, smiling, and selling him cookies,” said Farrah.
The moral of the story? You never know who might walk up to your cookie booth sale. Whether it’s a celebrity, a family member, or an average Joe, one thing is certain: everybody loves Girl Scout Cookies!
