All that hard work selling cookies, setting goals, and achieving troop success tends to pay off once every once and a while! When Troop 159 from Hodgdon put their money-earning reward to a vote, an overnight trip to Portland was the obvious winner.
After planning, voting, and organizing their trip, six Cadettes and Seniors from the troop finally got to embark on their highly anticipated getaway at the end of July. Once they arrived at their hotel, the Girl Scouts beat the heat while having a blast at Funtown Splashtown USA in Saco. They also found time to stop at Pine Point Beach for some shell-collecting!
The troop worked up quite the appetite with all of their exploring and traveling so they took advantage of the many food options that Southern Maine has to offer by visiting comfort food favorites like Olive Garden and Dairy Queen.
“This age was great to go away with. They can all do everything for themselves and are great at vocalizing what they do and don’t like—and no fighting! They’ve all really grown up and are so mature,” says Troop 159 Leader Sarah Silliboy.
