Join artist Jamie Ribisi-Braley as she leads you through a one-day plein air (open air) landscape painting workshop in the paint medium called Flashe. Flashe paint is a vinyl acrylic paint and is the perfect medium for quick spontaneous painting, as it dries incredibly fast, layers easily, thins like a dream, and has a wonderful matte finish. It handles like acrylic, gouache, and watercolor combined. Explore flashe's vibrant color and versatile application and layering methods as you portray the beauty and peace at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village in New Gloucester, Maine. Inspiration abounds!
We'll start in sketch books, playing with samples of the paint. We'll then move on to a small panel and complete a quick painting. Emphasis will be on being comfortable working in flashe and freeing yourself up. We'll work on multiple small pieces.
Grab a friend and join us! All art supplies will be provided including paint, brushes, palette, and painting surfaces. All levels of experience are welcome. Perfect for beginners and experienced painters alike. Seriously- you can learn to paint and you will have a great time!
Jamie is a Girl Scout leader and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Boston University and works full-time as Office Manager at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, which is a constant inspiration and subject of her art.
