PATTEN—Girls around the state are off to the races earning their Cookie Entrepreneur Family Pins this cookie program season, and thanks to a donation from First National Bank, they’re doing it free of charge! Khloe, a Juliette from Patten, is one of several Girl Scouts who have already met their cookie sales goals. According to her grandmother, Kelly Birmingham, Khloe is more than pleased to be exceeding them with each additional box sold too.
“As Khloe met each goal, she got more and more excited because she could truly see and feel the support from family and friends around her, but she also felt a strong sense of accomplishment for attaining exactly what she set out to achieve.” Said Kelly.
Kelly says one major factor that helped Khloe reach her cookie goal, was strategizing with a plan early on. To really ensure that you have a solid cookie season, Kelly also advises incorporating family as much as possible when talking about goal setting, timelines, and a course of action to successfully hit desired sales numbers.
“We sat down together ahead of time and talked about goals, what that meant, and discussed the importance of making small goals in order to make bigger ones. Initially, we set a goal of 25 boxes, then 50, then 100, and finally an end goal of 200 boxes,” said Kelly.
Since the days of strictly in-person cookie sales are far gone, Khloe also had to take some time to consider the various tools she could use to market her product via online ordering and social media to expand her reach to more customers.
“Khloe is a little shy, so we talked about what door-to-door sales would look like. We also talked about how to utilize Facebook and email to find new customers and then how to track their orders through checking her direct shipping and adding to her tally chart,” said Kelly.
Not only will Khloe walk away from this cookie season with a brand-new Cookie Entrepreneur Family Pin badge, the sense of fulfilment in reaching her target, and money to go towards her Juliette Fund, but she’s also gained a priceless life-long skill: confidence.
According to Kelly, that’s been one the best parts of witnessing the process: “Throughout this experience, I have watched Khloe’s confidence soar. She even spoke to a few people at a groomer appreciation event about buying and selling cookies and took the spontaneous opportunity to sell 10 boxes on the spot!”
Kelly’s final tip for anyone looking to set, meet, or exceed a cookie sales goal this year, is to understand the “ins and outs in advance,” and most importantly, “to let the girls make independent decisions and drive sales on their own business terms.”
Congratulations on meeting your goal, Khloe—keep up the great work!
