Silver Award Girl Scout, Carly

Carly Climo

CUF Food Pantry

Carly learned from her project advisor that food insecurity is a pressing issue among the people that attend her church and that it can be caused by factors such as income equity and employment opportunities. Carly was inspired by a little free food pantry in a neighboring community as a solution to her church’s problem of addressing food insecurity amongst its parishioners. Carly worked with church officials and her dad to design and install a little free food pantry at her church. Carly’s food pantry provides free, quick and easy meals and snacks to individuals experiencing food insecurity. Carly also enlisted the help of her church’s youth group and social justice team to ensure the sustainability of her project.
