We know that when school is out, kids check out! But Rachel’s Silver
Award project helps bring the excitement of reading to kids throughout
the summer at the Hollis Town Library.
Rachel organized a
Summer Reading Program, which includes games and prizes, helping to
get people to come check out the library, a valuable resource in the
town. She also put together advertisements on social media, promoting
the town library. She even created a Book Drive to help supply the
library with books, both for supplies and giveaways to kids. The Book
Drive was so successful, the library will be continuing it all
year!
The heart of Rachel’s project really is to ensure
that members of her community continue to visit the town’s library,
because, as she says, “It’s a gathering place – a living room for the community.”
