Food from the Heart
The Food from the Heart patch is a program that gets the Girl Scouts involved with Food Cupboards throughout their community.  By February, food cupboards are looking for an infusion of food. Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives are over and most of that food is gone. This program allows girls to: discover how community outreach is a life skill that can be used every day and how girls can challenge their community to share; connect to promote this activity through team building and cooperation that will bind them together within their community; and take action to learn more about hunger in their community and help inspire others to make a difference in each community. Cost for patch: $1.25

Widen the Circle

Introducing three ways to “Widen the Circle” of friends at Girl Scouts of Maine. These patch program options encourage our current members to spread the word about Girl Scouting, while in turn they will make new friends; develop new skills while helping others learn about the fun, friendship and power of girls together, help new girls join a troop where they will build courage, confidence, character, and make the world a better place.

Good Turn Days

Work in partnership with Goodwill Industries of Northern New England to do community service in your area. The community service begins with collecting gently used clothing, linens and toys to donate to Goodwill.

Sign Language patchSign Language Award
Deaf people around the world speak many different languages.  Here in the United States, American Sign Language, or ASL, evolved when American deaf people wanted to communicate with one another.  Although there are other American Sign communication systems that are word-for-word translations of spoken English into signs, only ASL is a true language.  It’s important to be polite when using ASL or any language.  For all levels, participants earn a sign language pin that says “I love you.” Click here to learn how to sign the alphabet.
