Camp Information
Keeping Girls Healthy and Safe
The
health and safety of our campers is of the utmost concern. All four
of our camps are licensed by the state of Maine and follow stringent
health and safety standards.
Health Card: All campers are required to have a physical
examination within two years prior to arriving at camp. Health forms
must be completed and signed by a physician and parent/guardian. No
child may attend camp without submitting the health form. The forms
will be included in the confirmation packet you will receive in the
mail or additional
health forms may be downloaded here.
Camp Staff
The staffs at our camps are selected for their interest and ability
to work with young girls, to teach and share skills, their
willingness to be part of a team and their commitment to honesty,
respect, caring and responsibility. Camp staff come from Maine, New
England and abroad and all are carefully screened through an
extensive hiring process. Each camp has its own camp director to
oversee the program and site. Staff are Red Cross First Aid and CPR
certified and each camp has a nurse, emergency medical technician or
qualified first-aider on site at all times.
Waterfront Staff
Waterfront staff are certified lifeguards, and each waterfront
director is a trained water safety instructor.
Swim Test: All campers must take a swim test to determine
their swimming ability. Some programs require campers to have the
ability to swim and handle themselves safely in deep water.
Participants in these programs must be able to swim at least 25
yards (the length of a standard swimming pool) using any stroke and
tread water for five minutes. Girls will be evaluated at camp
regardless of any swim tests they may have previously passed. If the
counselors believe a girl would not be safe in a particular program,
they will work with her to find another program she will like.
Host Families Needed
Be part of an exciting summer for an international camp staff at
Camps Natarswi or Pondicherry. International staff comes
from all over the world, are generally between 18 and 25 years old,
and speak a variety of languages.
During their summer at camp, it is very important for them to
get away and experience other parts of Maine and New England. Many
of them come to camp not only for the camp experience, but also to
see the United States and to learn more about our customs, food and
culture.
Are you willing to “host” a staff person for the
summer? A little effort goes a long way for these young women who
have traveled very far from home. Be a surrogate mom, or just a kind
friend. It will be greatly appreciated! For more information,
