WINGS - Women Investing in Girl Scouting
Join this group of women donors who have made a contribution of
$1,000 to our specialized giving society. Launched in 2001,
donations to WINGS are earmarked specifically for projects that will
positively impact 'tween and teen girls in Maine. The first
project undertaken with WINGS funds was
Maine's Future: A Report on the
Status of Young Women in Maine. This report tracks girls'
progress in three key areas affecting their development: education,
health
and social status. For more information about WINGS, please contact
us 1-888-922-GSME (4763).
Women of Distinction Dinner
The
12th Annual Women of Distinction Dinner will be held on Wednesday,
December 10, 2008. The Women of Distinction Dinner annually draws
upwards of 350 attendees, and recognizes local women who serve as
exemplary role models for girls and young women. This is a great
opportunity for businesses and community members to support local
women role models while also raising funds to help Girl Scouts of
Maine programs. Funds are raised by ticket sales as well as silent
and live auctions held at the event. Donations are also accepted.
Invitations are sent out in October; if you are interested in
attending please contact the Advancement Department at 207-772-1177.
Tickets are $125 per person.
You can help GSME raise funds for our programming by donating an
item or services for our auction. Are you a quilter? Consider making
a quilt to be donated! Do you love to fish? Offer to host a fishing
excursion under your expert guidance! Maybe you own a landscaping
company – offer a coupon for $100 worth of services! The sky’s the
limit, and we welcome any support. Contact the Advancement Office if
you’d like to learn more about how you can help Maine’s girls while
promoting your business.
Previous recipients include: Erin Hoeflinger, Meg Baxter, Beth
Newlands Campbell, Judith Magyar Isaacson, Joan Benoit Samuelson,
Christiane Northrup, M.D., Well Suited, Sara Burns, Carol Mitchell,
Maddy Corson, Ellie Baker, and Jana Lapoint.
