Amy Broadbent has been chosen as December's Volunteer of the Month!

Amy Broadbent

Amy is a real go-getter who can be found helping out anywhere there is a need in Dirigo Service Unit! That includes anything from co-leading her niece’s troop, helping out on an event committee, co-leading a leader workshop, helping out at Transforming Leadership as a state-wide GSME Adult Learning Facilitator, being an archery facilitator at Celebrate Camp, or even facilitating Troop Volunteer Part 2 Training in her service unit and others.

According to Amy, she became a troop leader for two reasons, "First, my niece wanted to join but there was no troop availability. The other reason is I felt like I needed to give back what was given to me as a Girl Scout. My mother was my leader and her co-leader was my go to person. This co-leader was a volunteer that had a family of young boys, but felt the need to volunteer for Girl Scouts. It meant everything to know I could rely on and trust another adult that was not related." Amy wanted to take her experiences and "pay if forward" so that she could be that kind of role model for her niece and also every other girl that she interacts with.

Congratulations, Amy! We are so happy that you decided to pay if forward and have now come full circle with Girl Scouts of Maine. You are definitely a G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ and we thank you for inspiring girls to live up to their potential and for leading by example. We are lucky to have you as a volunteer!
