Mary is a longtime volunteer in Telstar Service Unit who believes in Girl Scouts' mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
“I always wished I had been a Girl Scout, but never was,” Mary says. “I offered to help another mother start a Daisy troop as I wanted Girl Scouts for my daughters. Little did I know that that simple offer would mean that I would be volunteering as a troop leader for both my daughters' troops for the next fourteen years! I loved experiencing Girl Scouts with them and seeing girls reach their full potential. Our favorite adventures that we still talk about include cookie booth sales, camporees, the overnight at the Boston Museum of Science, and a trip to New York City. Once my daughters graduated from high school, I decided to remain on the service team to help create memories and opportunities for other girls,” says Mary.
And that she does! Mary never hesitates to help in her service unit wherever she is needed and is instrumental working with her fellow devoted service team members. Mary is the Treasurer, as well as Fall Product Sale Supervisor and Cookie Supervisor. If that wasn’t enough, she also helps with recruitment, events, meeting agendas, and also coordinates the Juliettes in her service unit. She can even be found from time to time serving as a second leader to help another troop.
Thanks Mary for being a great advocate of Girl Scouts and an awesome role model for girls, adults, the community, and being a sister to every Girl Scout!
