How did these lucky girls get to go to camp for free?

They EARNED it, through the 10 STEP CAMP CHALLENGE!

STEP ONE is to register by October 1, 2011, and then take part in the fall product and cookie sale activities.

Complete all 10 steps and you'll earn a free week at camp next summer.

The Ten Step Challenge requirements

REGISTER AS A GIRL SCOUT FOR THE 2012 MEMBERSHIP YEAR

1.) Registration form must be in the Bangor or South Portland Service Center
no later than 5:30 pm Monday, October 3, 2011, to qualify for this step.

FALL PRODUCT SALE ACTIVITY

2.) Sell a minimum of 6 orders for magazines or books in the following manner:
1 must be from Step 1 (paper order) and 1 must be from Step 3 (online orders), collect payment and turn in so that it is received by the troop leader
no later than October 18, 2011.

3.) Complete one address booklet for Step 2 with 11 different and correctly filled out addresses.  Turn in booklet so that it is received by the troop leader
no later than October 18, 2011.

4.) Send a minimum of 12 emails.

5.) Print and turn in to leader the Detailed Order Report as proof of sent emails and any orders received no later than October 18, 2011.

6.) Sell a minimum of 25 nut and/or candy items in Step 4, collect payment, and turn in so that it is received by the leader no later than October 18, 2011.

NOTE:  Paperwork and payments must be completed and turned into the leader so that they can turn it into the Service Unit Supervisor.  The supervisor will then turn in all paperwork so that it is received in either the Bangor or South Portland Service Center no later than October 27, 2011.  At this point a letter will be sent notifying each girl she has successfully completed the first 6 steps towards her free week at camp.  If parents feel their daughter has qualified, and a letter is not received by January 1, 2012, call Libbey Smith at the South Portland Service Center

WHY DO I WANT TO EARN THIS FREE WEEK?
7.) Write a short essay about what you hope to get out of your experience from camp.  Mail or email so that it is received in the South Portland Service Center no later than January 31, 2012 to Libbey Smith, Girl Scouts of Maine, 138 Gannett Drive, PO Box 9421, South Portland, Maine, 04116-9421 or lsmith@gsmaine.org.

COOKIE SALE PROGRAM

8.) Attend/complete all activities for 1 of the following no later than January 31, 2012:

a. Service Unit Cookie Rally (Daisies/Brownies/Juniors)
b. District Cookie College Event (Cadettes/Seniors/Ambassadors)

( NOTE: For questions on dates, etc., please contact your Membership Manager.)

c. GSUSA Cookie Activity Pin (NOTE: If completing this activity, mail or email what you did to complete each step to Libbey Smith.)

9.) Sell a minimum of 300 packages of cookies during the Phase 1 (January) initial order taking. Turn in orders to troop leader meeting troop deadline so leader can enter into GSME data system no later than February 3,2012.

10.) Collect payment for Phase 1 cookies. Turn into leader so that payment is deposited into troop account and entered into GSME data system no later than March 30, 2012.

Additional Information

  • If all requirements are met by March 30, 2012, letters of confirmation will be mailed in April.  If you feel that you should have received a confirmation letter and didn’t, please contact Libbey Smith no later than May 31, 2012.
  • Letters can then be used as payment for any of our camp programs “up to” $365.  (If choosing a more expensive week, $365 can be credited to the session and the remaining fee will be billed.)
  • This promotion is for ONE WEEK only, even if the price of one week is less than $365.
  • This reward cannot be carried over to another year.  It must be used during the summer of 2012 to stay within our financial year.
