Girl
Scout membership is open to all girls between the ages of 5 and 17,
and to men and women ages 18 and over, who make the Girl Scout
Promise, accept the Girl Scout Law, and pay annual memberships dues.
(There is financial assistance for this yearly membership fee of
$10.00 per year .)
The levels in Girl Scouting are:
Daisy Girl Scouts for girls in
kindergarten: visit and explore a fire station, animal farm or local
park; put together a scrapbook about themselves or their
families; adopt a grandparent in a nursing home; create crafts and
have fun with face painting; earn Daisy Girl Scout Petals while
learning about Girl Scouting.
Brownie Girl Scouts for girls in
grades 1 - 3: hike or bike trip with their troop; visit a local zoo;
go on an overnight camping trip; learn about the stars, the moon and
outer space; sing new songs; play new games; and make news friends;
be a helper and a friend.
Junior Girl Scouts for girls in
grades 4 - 6: explore the outdoors on a weekend camping trip or at
summer camp; go to a play at a theater and tour back stage; discover
new ideas at an overnight in a museum or science center; earn a
horseback riding badge; help out at a local animal shelter; learn
the latest dance steps to the latest songs.
11-17 year olds, through STUDIO
2B, can challenge themselves on a high ropes course, rock climbing wall
or whitewater rafting; go on a Destination Adventure and travel
across the country or world; earn prestigious leadership awards and
scholarships; participate in fitness, fashion, and make-up seminars;
relax and relate; share ideas with girls and adults about things
important to them.
