Maine’s first woman Attorney General, Janet Mills, President of the Maine Senate, Elizabeth (Libby) Mitchell, and Hannah Pingree, Speaker of the Maine House, addressed an audience of over 90 business women and teen Girl Scouts at a breakfast event held at the Maple Hill Farm Inn in Hallowell, on Monday, April 27.

Acknowledged as some of the top women leaders in the state, Mills, Mitchell and Pingree recounted personal experiences relating to their work in public service and shared their views on what it means to be a woman leader in today’s world.

The meeting was the first in a series of “Inspired to Lead” events co-sponsored by Girl Scouts of Maine and Time Warner Cable, to help raise awareness of women’s leadership and provided a forum for Maine women to reflect on their own leadership journeys.

Inspired to Lead, an event co-sponsored by Girl Scouts of Maine and Time Warner Cable, engaged three of Maine’s most influential women in a discussion about their careers in public service and leadership ideals.

"Hearing first hand from leaders in our community about their personal journeys and how that has influenced and impacted their leadership can be educational and inspiring for women of all ages," says Melinda Poore, V.P. of Government & Public Affairs for Time Warner Cable.

Girl Scouts of Maine builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. The organization serves over 16,000 girl and adult members statewide, and operates service centers and shops in South Portland and Bangor, and maintains an office in Presque Isle.
