Operation Cookie Drop
44,000+ boxes of cookies donated to military service men and women!

During this year’s booth sales, Girl Scouts sold thousands of boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to people who requested that they be donated to the men and women serving in our Armed Forces.

Interbake/ABC Bakers, GSME’s official Girl Scout Cookie baker, also made a large contribution that bolstered the total number of boxes of cookies to over 44,000!
On Flag Day, June 14, the gigantic mountain of cookie boxes was loaded onto the Operation Cookie Drop tractor trailer truck and delivered to military drop-off points in South Portland, Augusta, and Bangor.  From there, the Maine Air National Guard Family Services Division and Operation HomeFront helped deliver the cookies to our soldiers at home and abroad.

A Special Thank You Letter

THANK YOU!  By now you have probably heard Operation Cookie Drop is responsible for providing over 3,700 cases (approximately 44,000 boxes) of Girl Scout cookies to service members and their families.  When Connie Goulatis approached me with this idea nearly 5 months ago I never imagined the final outcome would be as impressive as it was.

By the time you read this we will have distributed the cookies you raised to soldiers, sailors, airmen and their families throughout Maine.  We are also working to send cookies overseas to the U.S. Army medical facility in Landsthul, Germany; the Airman Readiness Center in Al Udeid; as well as to a half dozen deployed Maine service members.

What you did has touched thousands of lives, including the lives of your fellow scouts who have a parent in the military.  Imagine being away from your family, friends and the things that comfort you for months at a time.  Now imagine how much it would mean to get a gift of Girl Scout cookies.  The connection to home, the wonderful tastes and the reminder that people at home appreciate the sacrifices you and your family are making on their behalf.  This simple act makes a tremendous difference for our deployed service members.

Thank you for all you have done to bring a touch of home and happiness to our service members and their families.
