Girl Scouts throughout Maine participated in this globally focused, community service project by collecting books and bringing them to one of Girl Scouts of Maine’s Service Centers in South Portland or Bangor. As a result, over 1,000 pounds of books have been mailed directly to The School of St. Jude in Arusha, Tanzania.
“This project really does demonstrate the power of girls working together to change the world,” said Kim Saville, Acting Director, School of St. Jude. “We have just opened our new library which is in serious need of books and this thoughtful contribution bolsters our mission of fighting poverty through education.”
