This course gives new leaders basic information about the Girl Scout program, available resources, safety issues, and troop leader responsibilities, as well as ideas for the first four troop meetings. All troop leaders and advisors (position codes 01 and 02) are required to take this course before meeting with the troop. Group orientation classes are scheduled below. If the locally scheduled classes conflict with your schedule, contact your membership manager at GSME 1-888-922-GSME (4763) to schedule an individual orientation. Bring: paper, pen and if you have them, Leader Guide and Safety-Wise.

Troops may not take any trips beyond their meeting place until at least one member of the troop leadership team has completed Basic Leadership - Multi Level or Teen Advisor Training. It is recommended that leaders meet with the troop at least twice before attending Basic Leadership Training. New leaders working with girls in grades 6-12 must take Teen Advisor Training, not Multi-Level. This training is designed for all new leaders working with Daisy, Brownie or Junior Girl Scouts. Must be taken before any travel beyond the meeting place. Bring: pen, paper, Leader Guide and Safety-Wise.

Spend the night exploring the world after dark. Venture into the outdoors and spend the night hiking, playing games, and fixing a midnight snack. Once inside (after 2 a.m.) try your hand at a game of cards in Braille, an obstacle course in the dark and Morse (3rd and up- spring reg only). this event runs from 8:00 p.m. Friday to 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
